Privacy

welcome!

You’ve come to Antipodes Tarot, run by Ruby Maree.

This site is hosted in the United States, and I’m in Queensland, Australia.

What this applies to, and what it doesn’t

This privacy policy ONLY applies to this website.

If you contact me through some other website, like YouTube or Instagram, their privacy policy applies.

In particular, if you purchase a service or item, you’ll be doing that on Etsy. For more about that, see their privacy policy.

What happens when you leave a comment

Here’s what the website will collect when you leave comments on the site:

  • the data you included in the comments form
  • your IP address and browser user agent string – this is to help spam detection.

This site uses the Gravatar service by Automattic. It will send an anonymous strong (hash) to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. For more info, you can read Automattic’s privacy policy. If you do use a Gravatar, the public can see your Gravatar profile picture.

This site also uses the Kismet service by Automattic. To prevent spam, the website may send your browser, IP address, and comment data to the Akismet service. For more info on how that works, check Automattic’s privacy policy.

Media (images, videos, etc)

At the moment, there isn’t any way for readers of this site to upload their own media.

If that changes, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites

This site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited the other website yourself.

These websites may:

  • collect data about you
  • use cookies
  • embed their own third-party tracking
  • monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

This might include tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on this site you can choose whether to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

At the moment, you can’t create your own account or log in. If that changes, when you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to work out if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data. Your browser will delete it when you close the site.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Data retention & who can see it

If you leave a comment, this website will store comment and its metadata indefinitely. This is to help me approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

At the moment, you can’t make a user account. If that changes, and you make an account:

  • the website stores any profile information you put in
  • you can see, edit, or delete it at any time, except for your username
  • anyone who administers this website can see and edit that information.

At the moment there’s only one website administrator – that’s me, Ruby Maree.

You control your data

You can ask to get an exported file of any personal data, including any data you have provided, that this website stores. You can also ask me to erase any personal data stored on the site. This does not include any data I must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
